Rare Polish - Marina

Just a quick post this Sunday night - recently I travelled to Lanzarote and found a lovely brand, called Rare Polish.

This is one of my finds , called Marina . A lovely blue shimmer which is not too unlike sea water! :)

Application was lovely, 2 coats for opaque, you cannot see my nail line in real life.

Sinful Colors - Daddy's Girl

I was in Lanzarote in January and picked up a nice few polishes, this included. The bottle is SO deceiving - it looks much darker than it is. It's a jelly-like purple with pink and green microshimmers (I think!) and I am completely in total and utter love with it!

This is pic heavy - I couldn't stop!

I won a prize ! From Kunimitsu Nail Potions

Recently I entered a little giveaway on Kunimitsu's facebook page. Lucky for me, I bagged a mini size of Abyssinian which is just gorgeous and I had to blog about it :)

Abyssinain is a nude pearlescent base with micro red, gold, black and black bar glitters. It's very unusual and nothing like I have seen before in the Indie world.

I used two coats for this post, I could have used more, but I quite liked the finish that two gave me. I didn't use a top coat for this polish.

The only problem now, is that I have been on Kunimitsu's etsy shop and I am seriously lemming a few more of her polishes! There will surely be hope of a purchase in the near future!

Nostalgic Lacquer - Bitchcraft

I have had this amazing polish for ages , sitting there, waiting to be loved... today, I loved it. A LOT!

Nostalgic Lacquer have some really unique polishes and this is what I look for when I search for Indie nail polishes to buy/try.

This is Bitchcraft. Bitchcraft is a jelly olive green base with large black hex glitter, medium blue hex glitter and small blue and pink glitters. The application is stunning, I used three coats, and tonnes of glitter comes out with no requirement for "fishing" or placement. I adore this polish - I took so many shots of this because I kept loving it more and more!

Nostalgic Lacquer can certainly expect to see me at their store sooner rather than later!

Utopia's Polish - Southern Belle

I have to admit to being more of a stasher and less of a trier on a lot of my polishes - so I am using my new found love of blog addiction to try all these amazing polishes and realise that yes, I do actually have some fab babies in my collection!

Today I have a real beauty for you - Southern Belle from Utopia's Polish. There are oodles of glitters in this shimmering pink base, including; white bars, white hex (medium and small) red hex, blue, teal, purple.... It is beautiful on the nails, and definitely no fishing is required to achieve this very glittery effect.

These pictures have been taken in artifical light at night, and outside in the dark. I absolutely adore this polish!

Essence Polishes Spring 2013 Part 3

On Wednesday and Thursday, I showed you six of the nine new polishes from Essence, for Spring 2013.

Today I have the final three:
Flashy Pumpkin, We Rock The Green & Prom-Berry

I found it hard to capture the sheer tomato orange of Flashy Pumpkin! The shot is blurred slightly, to give the best representation of the actual colour. It is BRIGHT and not great on my skin tone. This is my least favourite of the nine. I needed two coats, though you may get away with one for this polish. Application was perfect.

We Rock The Green is such a beautiful polish, with green and gold glass flecks or shimmer, I'm not sure. I just love this polish. It's one of the best of the nine in my opinion and I loved application - I needed three coats for this polish.

Prom-Berry. What can I say? When I saw this was in the release, I reckoned "this is just another standard purple but it's beautiful! It is a dark plum but there is a pink tone in the shimmer, which is impossible to capture in the pictures :( I made sure to take my picture outside with my spring flowers, just for effect ;) This was another favourite from the nine in this release.

All in all, Essence new polishes are varied, and have some lighter and darker tones to suit all fans of the brand for this Spring. My favourites from the nine are Miss Universe, Peach & Cream, We Rock The Green and Prom-Berry.

These have been released in Irish Primark stores already, and are being rolled out to pharmacies across the country imminently.

Essence Polishes Spring 2013 Part 2

Yesterday I showed you three of the nine new polishes from Essence's new Spring polish releases.

Today I have .. three more! I have to say, I am loving the formulas of these polishes, they are creamy and frosty, and glittery, and very Essence - i.e. easy to apply and great popping colours!

Here are the three I have to show you today:
Ice Ice Baby, Peach & Cream & Upper Green Side

I swatched Ice Ice Baby at night, so the shot is in reasonably bad light, with flash - I actually like how it captured the sheer jelliness of this shade, it isn't something I would usually go for, but something I quite liked on my own pale Irish hands! This was two coats, and I liked the application.

Peach & Cream needed three coats, and you can see from the shot, that it's quite streaky even still.. perhaps, over a darker base, or a very light nude, it would be better. This was my second favourite so far, of the polishes I've tried from this release, with Miss Universe taking the top spot! Taken in natural morning light, with flash.

Lastly, I have Upper Green Side. Hard to capture it's pistachio-ness unfortunately. This picture is with natural morning light, and no flash. Excuse the bumps - I had lint on two nails!

I am looking forward to trying the last three tonight!

Essence Polishes Spring 2013 Part 1

Living in Dublin certainly has its perks - one of them being the cheaper brand nail polishes I can pick up with my grocery shopping on an almost daily basis.. (not necessarily a good thing!) One of my favourite of these brands, being Essence.

A little birdy told me that Essence were releasing 9 new polishes for Spring 2013, and here they are.

The colour names are:
Flashy Pumpkin, That's What I Mint, Miss Universe, Prom-Berry, Upper Green Side, We Rock The Green and Hello Marshmallow.

The two nude shades are called: Mit Claim and Peach and Cream.

I managed to get my hands on three of these babies last night (Miss Universe, Hello Marshmallow and That's What I Mint) and have some swatches for you .

First One I have to show you is "That's What I Mint"

this needed two coats for complete coverage, but you may get away with one! I love it, there is a subtle shimmer which you won't see in pictures

Secondly I have "Hello Marshmallow"

this also needed two coats, this one is so girly! There is  a very cute blue micro-shimmer in this that is hard to capture on camera

Lastly I have "Miss Universe"
I left the best for last - I cannot put into words how looking at this polish makes me get all butterflies in my tummy! It's stunning, I managed to capture it pretty well in the photo (which I am quite proud of!) IT is a kind of sheer jelly navy base, with micro blue and green glitters. <3

I hope to pick up the other six polishes this weekend :-)

Color Club Halo Hue 2013 - Over The Moon

I've never been much of a holo fan - but a wonderful friend of mine, sent me this recently (she couldn't help herself - she's an enabler)

I couldn't wait, and swatched it from the parcel at my desk in work - this is in not-so-great light and I just adore it. I can see myself ordering the rest of this collection, and other holos.... oh dear!

Application is smooth, I used this over a regular OPI base coat, and two coats gave even coverage. I had no top coat because I was at work but it hasn't chipped a day later, after cooking dinner, wrestling on public transport and my pilates class!

What is your opinion on holos?

Great Giveaway!

Head on over and check this out!.
