Model City Dipping Chocolate

It's Friday, and a bank holiday in the Emerald Isle. I plan on doing lots of swatching this weekend!

Today I have another amazing polish from Model City. Nina has sent me a little bundle and I had planned on showing you this one in the post with Strawberry Jam but unfortunately I couldn't bear to take it off when I put it on.... Please check out the newly launched website here! There are lots of amazing polishes to buy there. You can keep up to date on MCP facebook page too!

Dipping Chocolate. What a cool name?! I love food related polish names. I can relate to that.

This gorgeous brown  holo was opaque in two thin coats. I cannot tell you how amazing the formulas are on these polishes.. they are so pigmented. It does remind me of chocolate and that makes me hungry. Kudos to you Nina !

Here are the pics !

I used flash to show you the beautiful holoness that lives in this polish.

Colores de Carol April Fools

Good morning lovely readers!

I am feeling the the heat today, we have sunshine and it really makes you jump out of bed, and look forward to your day!

I have another gorgeous polish from Colores de Carol to show you today; April Fools. This is a white jelly base with multi coloured square glitters and this really subtle shimmer, that makes it so unique compared to other white based indies out there.

I adore this polish becuase it can be worn with anything. It's nude enough yet colourful enough to match any outfit!

I used three coats for this one, and think I'd use it over a pure white base next time, or even pink!

Golden Rose Jolly Jewels 105

Happy Humpday readerinos! The sun is shining in Dublin today.

I have a fabulous polish to show you  - one I ordered from  Bulgaria on a favourite site I have www.beautycosmetic.biz.

This is Golden Rose "Jolly Jewels" number 105. It is a sheer purple jelly base with green and purple glitters in varying sizes.

I used four coats for these swatches, but I am thinking that in future I might layer over a lilac; as there is SO much glitter!

What do you think - do you have any Golden Rose polishes? Let me know in comments!

Rimmel Salon Pro

If you follow me on Facebook (If you don't, do it!) you'll have seen that I won 10 Rimmel Salon Pro polishes through a Facebook competition run by Rimmel Ireland .

I have seen these polishes in shops, and having never been a big Rimmel fan over the years I wasn't pushed on buying them. They are roughly €6.45 in Irish stores with a selection of 10 polishes to purchase here. There are 32 in the total collection.

The selection we get (why we don't get the option of the full 22 is very strange in my opinion) is varied from red to blue to dark grey, and a washed out peach.

I tried three of these polishes on for size; Reggae Splash (a peach) Hip Hop (a coral red) and Punk Rock (a dark grey with purple tone)

First up: Reggae Splash. I will comment on the brush used for this range- it's large (too large for my tiny fingers) and a strange shape, quite like the Catrice brush. I am not a fan but brush size is a personal opinion! This is a really washed out peach. It looks yellow in the photo above but it's not. It took four coats to get this opacity (which is far too many coats) and the colour just doesn't do it for me. It's bland, and has no real pop to it. I was quite disappointed with this one.

Next Up I have Hip Hop - in the bottle this looks quite coral- but maybe that's because it's sitting beside a deep red! On the nails, it has a coral/bright pink tone in it which I really like. I found it quite similar to Barry M Gelly Passion Fruit but with less of a pop to it. I liked it - and used two coats to reach this opacity. It's a good polish to own, as a go-to polish. It is that type of shade you will wear again and again.

Lastly, Punk Rock. This one is my favourite. This also took two coats and I would describe this as a dark grey with purple tones. It glided on and just looks amazing against pale skin! A must have dark neutral polish for anyone's collection!

Colores de Carol

Sunday morning and I am up with a coffee, some spelt toast and a beautiful polish to show my readers!

This is I Smell Spring, from Colores de Carol. Carol sent me some polishes to review and I was so excited to get them. I really think this lady has an exceptional eye for colour and I couldn't wait to try them out.

I Smell Spring is a yellowish nude jelly base with multi coloured glitter in different shapes and sizes. I love it. It's not white, and it has a nice mix of glitter yet seems muted enough to wear as a nude polish.

I used three thin coats, formula is good (let each coat dry!) and glitter was evenly distributed once three coats were applied. I had to leave this one on: it's just far too pretty and wear was good, I got 3 days with only minimal tip wear, using my usual Essence base and top coats.

Here are the pics! You can purchase polishes from Carol's shop linked above, and keep up to date on her Facebook page and Blog. Have a great Sunday!

They've arrived! My coveted Barry M Gellys - and they DO NOT disappoint!

I could not resist a skittles mani, I was just too excited to try them all out.

Guava, Key Lime, Blue Grape, Mango & Passion Fruit

Each was two coats , and the usual amazing Barry M formula.

I am in complete love!

Kiko Sugar Matt 641 - Strawberry Pink

Hellos!

Today I have a beauty - another of my Kiko haul. Sugar Matt 641, named Strawberry Pink.

This colour is beautiful. The texture mixed with this gorgeous golden shimmer sparkle is enough to make a girl squeal! The application was a bit iffy - gloopy though I know this is to be found with texture polishes, I had to be careul when applying this one.

I used two coats, though you could likely get away with one. A very girly summery shade - perfect for a day at the beach!

You can get Kiko on their website herehttp://www.kikocosmetics.co.uk/, and keep up to date on their UK Facebook page here.

These polishes vary in price and my haul had polishes ranging in price from £0.50 to £4.90.

For my Irish readers - I used Parcel Motel to receive this order, as they don't ship to Ireland.

The Face Shop - eBay haulin'

Hello my lovely readers!

Today I have a sunny yellow polish, a bargain I might add, that I stumbled upon on a recent eBay browse. I am a sucker for a budget polish and this little fellow cost me about €2 to include postage. How can you go wrong?! From "The Face Shop" is a Korean brand of cosmetics which include skincare, make up, and men's cosmetics! You can check out their website here. I regularly pick up bits and pieces from Korea on eBay and I love the little boxes they come in, not to mention the free samples! A quirky little "thefaceshop" logo is engraved onto the lid too -snazzy! They also have a facebook page

I am not a big fan of yellow but because I don't have many I was seeking a good vibrant canary yellow shade. This fits my bill. It took three coats (and my nail line is not visible in real life) to achieve full opacity. I think this polish is a wonderful summer shade (if your skin tone can handle it!) and I know I will be rocking it with some neutral clothes later on in the season.

Thanks for reading :)

Tip Top Beauty - Nail Art Duo Pen

Hollah!
Recently I reviewed two polishes from Tip Top Beauty, a South African based beauty brand.

Today I have another of their products I received; a nail art duo pen "Drama Queen". This pen has two sides, one with black polish (which is a beauty I might add) and the other with black "sprinkle beads".

I am not very good at nail art - it has to be said. I cannot draw either and was a little apprehensive to try these out, as usually things like this go terribly wrong where I'm involved! I found this fun - it's not perfect but it was my first go and I am now tempted to get out a recent giveaway prize I won, with 20 little vials of beads!

My nails are painted with Kiko 332, Dark Violet which I reviewed here with an accent nail using the beads. I must admit how proud I am of myself and my "attempt" at nail art! I think I will become more adventurous in future!

Kiko 332

If any of you follow me on Facebook (and you should!) you'll have seen my recent Kiko haul picture I posted. I ordered 18 polishes from them and have started trying them out - they are a wonderful formula. What I really love about them is the brush shape. I can get a fairly tidy mani when a brush isn't huge, and I can manage to get into the corners! :)

On a side note, Kiko use UPS for delivery and it was a week to me, including my UK forwarding address.  I was quite impressed.

This is 332 - Dark Violet. It is a lovely purple shade, two coats for opacity and applies beautifully. I hope all their polishes apply as well as this one.

I wore this one for a couple of days, good wear on it - my usual Essence base and top coats sealed the deal.

I LOVE this colour - do you own any Kiko?

You can get Kiko on their website here, and keep up to date on their UK Facebook page here.

These polishes vary in price and my haul had polishes ranging in price from £0.50 to £4.90.

Bourjois So Laque Glossy Nail Enamel

I have been known to spend hours in Boots.. I like to browse and pick up things I wouldn't normally check out. This does lead to eventual purchases which isn't always good for my pocket; but it is good for my nails !

On my most recent wander, I came across these new beauties from Bourjois "So Laque Glossy". I have never tried Bourjois polishes before, I kind of forget they exist and I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because they are at the bottom of the stands, and I can't see them? They had an offer on of 2 for €11 so I bit the bullet.

The selection of colours is lovely, pastel and nude cremes and a red thrown in for those traditional colour lovers!

L-R: Oh So Rose, Prepp Hibuscus, BC Beige, Amande défilé, Taupe modéle, Adora Bleu, Coton sur ton, Peach & Love.

I picked up Amande défilé and Adora Bleu to try out.

Amanda défilé is a gorgeous mint pastel green. this was almost opaque in one coat, I used two for the swatches. It is a really lovely shiny creme and I am not wearing a top coat! It would be a lovely base for stamping or nail art. This is one of the better green toned mint pastels I have tried. I find most of them too blue toned. Really chuffed to have stumbled across this one!

Adora-Bleu is a gorgeous rich sky blue colour! It is deep and I love it - I am huge blue fan. Again a wonderful shiny creme, no top coat worn. I think that this shade of blue is a staple for any blue lover, it hits the right notes in all ways.

Bourjois is available at Boots and Superdrug stores nationwide. Polishes are 7.99 but at the moment, 2 for €11
